Dr Lydia Lim

Dr Lydia Lim is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and has been in specialist practice at Sydney Oral & Facial Surgery since 1997. Dr Lim graduated from the University of Sydney with honours and completed her post-graduate training in the specialty of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Sydney. She obtained the specialist qualification FRACDS(OMS) in 1995. Dr Lim also completed a Masters Degree at Sydney University and during her training was awarded the Medical and Optical Travelling Fellowship. Dr Lim furthered her surgical training in the United States as Clinical Fellow in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Texas, Houston.

Dr Lim is one of Sydney’s leading orthognathic surgeons having operated on over 1000 cases. Her emphasis is on combining the science and art of jaw surgery to improve jaw function as well as enhance facial aesthetics. She also has considerable experience in corrective jaw surgery for cleft lip and palate patients. Dr Lim has been teaching Orthognathic Surgery at the University of Sydney Post-graduate Orthodontic programme since 1998.

Dr Lim also has expertise in Dental Implant Surgery including complex surgical reconstructive cases requiring bone grafting. She is a lecturer for surgical implantology including Sydney University Continuing Education and Graduate Diploma Courses. Dr Lim has been an invited speaker at many conferences and professional associations and lectures regularly to post-graduate students.

Dr Lim is Consultant Surgeon at Westmead Hospital where she is actively involved in training future oral and maxillofacial surgeons. She also holds a Consultant appointment at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead.

Dr Lim is President of the Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of New South Wales, member of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, member of the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Dental Surgeons, member of the Australian Dental Association, member of the Australian Osseointegration Society and the Pierre Fauchard Academy.
